There are many individuals who are not able to make use of the stairs due to medical reasons. Since a large number of homes have staircases, if you find that you are not able to utilize you stairway then this can mean being unable to use your home to its full extent. Rather than install an elevator, which can be expensive, or simply avoid the upstairs part of your home, many people choose to install a stairway lift.

Stair lifts are devices that are designed to carry its occupant up the stairs. They usually use a chair, so the stair lift user simply sits down and they will be safely carried up the stairs. A hand control is directly attached to the stair lift and this control is used to move the lift.

The control uses a constant pressure system to increase safety. This requires that the occupant of the lift to constantly push the button in order for the lift to move. In addition to an attached hand control, many of today’s lifts also come with two wireless remote controls as well. These are usually mounted at the each of the landings, which allows them to be used as call buttons.

Using a stair lift is one of the ways that it is possible to increase safety and independence. For a straight staircase, it presents a cost effective method of increasing safety. Also there is usually not much home modification required when installing the lift.

Those that are not able to use the stairs safely are at an increased risk of a fall. Falling on the stairs is very common and often results in a serious injury. This risk increases with age, as does the likelihood of a serious injury. This is the reason that many individuals use stair lifts.

A stair lift is a device that carries a person up and down the stairway safely and securely. Most do so using a chair, but some instead use a small platform called a perch. Lifts that use a perch require that the user remains standing as they are carried up the stairs. This can be a little dangerous and requires a strong center of balance, so they should only be used by people who can not use a regular stair chair for medical reasons.

Stair lifts are either battery powered or use electric power. Both plug directly into the wall, but the battery powered unit actually moves using a battery. The advantage to these types of lifts is that they will still work if the power goes out. There is an increased cost associated with these types of lifts, both in maintenance and in the initial cost of the lift.

Those that use stair lifts are able to confidently use the stairs safely and without the need of having someone there to help. They greatly improve safety and for straight staircases provide an affordable alternative to an elevator.

It is often much harder for a person who is mobility challenged to use the stairs. There are many disorders that can make this task difficult and not being able to use the stairs can greatly hinder a person’s lifestyle. To help negate the effect this has on a person’s life style and to increase safety, many individuals choose to install a stair lift.

Stair lifts are a special type of device that is used in homes and businesses to help people use the stairs. The device uses a chair, or in some rare cases a small platform, to transport its occupant up or down the staircase. It offers similar functionality to an elevator, but, at least in the case of straight staircases, usually requires only slight home modification.

Lifts designed for straight staircases attach directly to the stairs. They use a tracked system that carries the person along the track. Stair lifts greatly increase safety, because they make it so an individual never needs to struggle as they walk up the stairs again. Instead the lift does all of the work and its occupant can sit back and enjoy the ride.

These mobility aids are predominantly found indoors, but some outdoor models are available as well. Stair lifts can be installed onto most staircases, including those that are made out of stone or brick. Installing onto a staircase that is not made out of wood does require some special mounting bolts, so be certain to mention this at the time of order.

It can be difficult to climb the stairs for people with arthritis. Arthritis is a very common joint disorder that often affects the knees and is very common in those over the age of sixty. To help make using the stairs easier and safer, a stair lift is a common piece of home mobility equipment.

A fall on the stairs often results in a visit to the hospital for those individuals who are over sixty, which is one of the reasons a stair lift is so commonly used. These lifts are usually attached onto the stairs and secured using bolts that attach to the steps. An individual simply sits down on a chair, which is then sent along the distance of the stairs on a track. The track, which is usually made of thick aluminum, runs the length of the stairs.

Being able to use the stairs safely and easily is an important task. The alternative is to not use an area of your home or to move, so stair lifts really can restore your independence and increase your safety.

Often the homeowner is able to install the lift on their own. In cases of straight stairways, a lift can be a very affordable solution and is much less expensive than a residential elevator. Curved staircases are actually much harder and more expensive to outfit with a stair lift, so an elevator is a better alternative.

Using the stairs is an important task and one that quite often can lead to serious injury or even death. In fact a fall on the stairs is the number one cause of hospitalization among Americans over 65, so it is very important to take measures to prevent these types of accidents.

Quite frequently, the stair lift is found to be the best resource to improve safety and freedom. The reason it improves freedom is that people are no longer forced to rely on others to help on the stairs. Instead they can simply activate the stair lift and be effortlessly carried to the 2nd story landing or back to the ground floor.

While improving freedom and independence is a very important task, the role that a stair lift plays in improving safety is probably its most important task. Since an individual is no longer has to take the risk of climbing the stairs, one of the most dangerous places in the home is effectively controlled.

These lifting aids are used indoors primarily, but some models can be used both indoors and outdoors. These models are completely weatherproofed and can be used in all climates. They cost a little more, but this is because they have been specially treated to be resistant to moisture and rust.

If someone is not able to use the stairs, then there will certainly be some places that are not easily accessible, but there is no reason your home should be one of these inaccessible areas. To improve accessibility, a stair lift can be installed in many homes for a fraction of the cost of an elevator.

Homes that have a straight or ‘L’ shaped staircase can almost always take advantage of a stair lift. The stair lift can frequently be installed by the homeowner as there are several popular and easy to install Do-It-Yourself kits on the market. A stair lift is used to carry a person up and down the stairs and is very easy to operate.

The Do-It-Yourself kits usually include two main components: the track and the car. The track is attached to the steps and after the track has been securely bolted in place and leveled, the car is attached to the track. The car moves along the track and is the part of the unit that carries an individual up or down the stairs. While in many cases, the homeowner feels comfortable with the installation, most dealers offer a professional installation, which can quickly and easily get you in business.

Those that do not have a straight or ‘L’ shaped staircase will likely have to have a stair lift custom built. Due to the incredible cost of a custom built stair lift, a residential elevator becomes a much better option. This is because the elevator will offer much more functionality and cost about the same. An elevator also increase the value of the home, but a curved stair lift generally does not and has little resale value, because it can only be used on staircases that are identical to the one it was built for.

If you are not able to easily and safely climb the stairs, you might feel disheartened about not being able to access all areas of your home. One way to overcome this obstacle is to install a stair lift and if you have a straight stairway, a stair lift will be an affordable alternative to an elevator.

Stair lifts are devices that carry a person up and down the stairs. Often a chair is used to transport the person, but in some cases a small platform is used instead. The platform stair lifts, called perch lifts, are usually only used by people who, due to medical reasons, cannot sit down in a traditional chair stair lift.

The reason that perch lifts are not quite as safe is because the individual must remain standing as they move up the stairs. Despite having extra handle bars and even a place to lean up against, a perch lift still requires more balance to use.

In most cases a chair stair lift is the better choice. The chair can be turned so that it faces away from the stairs, so the user can safely enter and exit the lift. In addition because the rider is sitting as they are carried up or down the stairs, the risk of a fall is drastically reduced.

If for medical reasons you decide to go with a perch lift, always be extremely careful when you use the device. The platform, or perch, is rather small. Some perch lifts, like those by Acorn, have a small pad that the user can lean up against, so it is a good idea to invest in a perch lift that has this feature.

Accidents happen everywhere, but there are some places that they are much more likely to occur. The stairs is one such place and the result of a fall down the stairs can be devastating, especially for those over sixty-five. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to safely use the stairs, you should consider installing a stair lift.

Choosing to install and use a stair lift is often the most cost effective way to increase safety on the stairs. A stair lift for a straight stairway can be installed quickly, easily, and does not require any major home modification. They use a track and car system, with the metal track attaching directly to the staircase. The car then travels up and down the track holding a single occupant. Usually the only modification to the home involves bolting the track onto the stairs and the whole installation process can be completed in only a few hours.

While many choose to do the installation on their own, a professional team is usually available for only a little extra. For many this is a good choice, because not only will the team install the lift for you, but they will show the homeowner how to use and maintain the lift.

It is often difficult or extremely dangerous for those who are afflicted by arthritis or other mobility ailments to safely climb the stairs. It comes as no surprise that falling down the stairs is one of the chief causes of accidental death and severe injury. There are ways to prevent these accidents though and one of the best ways is by installing a stair lift.

The installation of a stair lift is usually done to make it possible to safely move up and down the stairs. Like an elevator, a stair lift carries a person up and down the stairs, but does so in a manner that is quite differently. Where an elevator carries a person straight up and down, a stair lift instead carries a person lengthways along the staircase in the same way they would move if they were walking up it. A stair lift is extremely less expensive than an elevator would be and there are a good deal of lifts that can be installed by the homeowner in an afternoon. In addition there is usually no construction required, other than the bolting of the stair lifts track in place.

The safest type of stair lift to use is the stair chair. This is because the occupant of the lift will remain in a sitting position as they are moved up or down the stairs. Many of these lifts also feature safety belts, which can make the rider even more secure. In cases where the person is unable to bend their knees though, a stair chair might not be the best option, but instead they might be better suited by installing a perch lift. Perch lifts require that the rider remain standing as they are carried up and down the stairs though, so for most people they will not provide the same degree of safety that a traditional stair chair will.

Using and installing a stair lift is in many cases very easy and is the best way to improve safety and reduce the risk of falling.

Climbing the stairs is one of the most dangerous activities for people who are over the age of 65. Most often this is as a result of arthritis or neuromuscular diseases, which make it painful and often impossible to safely climb the stairs. To help prevent accidents and reduce the risk of injury, a stair lift can be installed to most homes.

A stair lift is a special mobility aid that is designed to carry a person up and down the stairs in a safe manner. These remote control devices usually use a chair that travels along a track secured to the stairs. These lifts, commonly called stair chairs, can be operated with either hand and, depending on the model, support over 500 pounds.

People who install a stair lift are able to greatly reduce the risk of injury on the stairs, because they are carried up the stairs and do not have to manually climb them. Most quality stair lifts offer a swivel seat, which allows the rider to exit the lift safely at the top of the stairs. Some people choose to install a set of waist high grab bars at the top of the stairs to allow for increased stability as they exit the lift.

Using a stair lift in the home has been shown to dramatically reduce the risk of injury and virtually eliminate the risk of a fall. They are most often seen indoors, but they are also available for outdoor use. If you do need an outdoor stair lift though, you will need to ensure that it is rated for outdoor use.
